The 'Wedding Sampler' Another stunning original design by Katie Trendell of 'an Elne of Lynnyn..', the 'Wedding Sampler' is so called because they were originally designed as a wedding gift from the brides parents. It uses Gentle Art hand-dyed threads and measures approximately 18" square on a 32 count fabric. The sampler contains a variety of stitches - cross stitch over two threads, double running stitch, double backstitch and alternating double backstitch, square eyelets and a tent stitch filling. The 'Larning Sampler' We would like to show you the first in a planned series of samplers which will help you to expand your range of stitches. This first sampler includes a variety of reversible stitches, some old favourites such as double-running stitch, satin stitch and Smyrna cross, as well as some less well known stitches, like Queen stitch variation, faggoting and upright rice. The model has been stitched on 32 count cream linen using silk threads and the instructions will come with a full materials list in both cotton and silk, detailed charts and stitch diagrams which will show both the front and the back of the work where appropriate. Kezia Darrington (1843) The third in the collection of sampler charts reproduced from the Museum of East Anglian Life by Katie Trendell of 'an Elne of Lynnyn..' Kezia Darrington is a reproduction of a Baptist School Sampler held at the Museum of East Anglian Life, Stowmarket. Kezia's sampler is a good beginner piece as it just uses cross stitch. My Book of Days
'My Book of Days' - The
2005 Retreat Project Kit, a design by Katie Trendell and Linda Hadden of The
Sampler Guild.
This is the project that was the theme of the first 'Gathering of Kindred Spirits'
retreat which took place at Muncaster Castle in Cumbria in April 2005. With
this kit we hope you will create your own special 'My Book of Days' to hold
your memories. It is a fabric autograph book where memories may take the form
of stitched autographs, permanent ink signed autographs, buttons, charms and
miniature stitched pieces - or anything else you may wish to add! There is a
pocket to hold any bits and pieces you may collect along the way.

The cover design was inspired by
the 'Tom Fool' tree at Muncaster Castle and we felt it was particularly appropriate
to have a 'tree of life' on our book which will contain snippets from our lives.
The design on the inner lining and back pocket was adapted from the ceiling
of the Octagonal Library in the castle. We hope you will use your book to hold
your memories of special days, special friends and those special gifts you may
receive from time to time.
The 'My Book of Days' kit is available in the following formats:

Strawberry Needlecase Kit
The Strawberry Needlecase Kit was commissioned from Katie Trendell for our first stitching class which took place on Sunday 13th October 2002 at the Woburn School of Needlework. The class was a fully-booked success, all participants being taught a variety of stitches (montenegrin, trellis, tent stitch etc.) which were then put to good use, making up a Needlecase featuring an 18th century strawberry design.
This kit, including all materials and full instructions is now available to purchase in the U.K. at £15.00 plus postage & packing to TSG members, or £18.00 to non-members plus p & p.
Overseas members can purchase the kit at £20.00 plus p & p.
Overseas non-members can purchase the kit for £25.00 inc. p&p.
